Cancer patient gives up traditional treatment for revolutionary proton beam therapy to avoid ruining his sex life

A prostate cancer survivor has revealed how he opted for a pioneering proton beam therapy in a bid to protect his sex life. Joe Tuftnell, 72, who was first diagnosed with a cancerous growth on his prostate in August 2012, said: “I’m fiercely independent – I didn’t want to have to suffer from incontinence or erectile problems, and I didn’t want to have to compromise the intimacy I share with my wife.”
