Firm working on £100m Christie Hospital centre is NOT comparable to Carillion, says Government

A debt-ridden construction firm working on a £100m cancer centre at The Christie hospital is not in a comparable position to Carillion, the government has insisted. Interserve, which has an 80,000-strong workforce worldwide, is currently building the proton beam cancer therapy building at the Withington site. Concerns have been raised about Interserve after a report in the Financial Times highlighted its debt, which is expected to peak at £500m during the first half of this year.
