For low-risk prostate cancer a shortened radiotherapy schedule has similar benefit

The vast majority of men diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2015 will have early-stage disease at low risk for recurrence. Clinical trial results presented at the plenary session of the 57th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) confirm that these patients can be treated with a shortened course of radiotherapy and experience the same level of cancer control as those treated with a conventional course of radiotherapy.
