Kilovoltage images track prostate motion

Radiotherapy researchers in Australia have reported the first real-time, clinical use of kilovoltage intrafraction monitoring (KIM). Using standard on-board linac imaging, they have used KIM to monitor prostate motion with sub-millimetre accuracy in three patients receiving volume-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) to date, as part of a 30-patient feasibility trial that started in September last year (Med. Phys. 42 354).
