NHS failing patients by making radiotherapy ‘Cinderella’ service

One of Britain’s leading cancer doctors has warned that NHS managers are “failing patients” by making radiotherapy the “poor relation” in treating the disease. Peter Kirkbride, chairman of the government’s radiotherapy clinical reference group, accused NHS England of having planned funding for the life-saving treatment on the “back of a fag packet” and of failing to consult his panel of experts.
