Tim Farron

Tim Farron MP, was leader of the Liberal Democrats between July 2015 and July 2017 and is currently the Member of Parliament for Westmoreland and Lonsdale, having been elected in his constituency since 2005. Tim has campaigned extensively for a radiotherapy unit in Westmorland General Hospital to become a reality following his success of supporting the development of its chemotherapy unit. He recently arranged a radiotherapy reception in parliament, where he met experts from across Britain to shine a light on radiotherapy and the benefits that it can bring to patients and in improving cancer outcomes. Click here to read more about this event. Subsequently, the Access to Radiotherapy Bill 2017 – 19 was established to make provision to improve access to radiotherapy treatment in England; to define access in terms of the time that patients are required to travel to places providing treatment; and to specify 45 minutes as the maximum time patients are to travel. Tim has worked closely with Action Radiotherapy and supports our dedication to improving radiotherapy treatment by supporting both patients and professionals.
