Parents’ agony as cancer cure will leave their four-year-old son disabled

A mum and dad have spoken of their devastation after learning their little boy is battling a rare form of brain tumour. Nicola and Kevin McCormack were given the news just three weeks ago that their son Josh, four, has a malignant tumour on his brain stem. The family had researched proton therapy on the internet, which unlike radiotherapy only targets the cancerous tissues at higher dosages and is currently not available on the NHS. They had planned to raise £70,000 to take Josh to Munich in Germany for an assessment at the end of the week, but on Monday they were given the devastating news that they didn’t have enough time to set up a schedule for treatment.
