Fundraising events

Taking part in a fundraising event, or organising one yourself, can be a great way of raising money to support our work while also helping to raise awareness of the importance of radiotherapy as a cancer treatment. Why not get fit by Running for Radiotherapy?

On Sunday 10th July 2016 Action Radiotherapy took part in the Vitality British 10K London Run. This was the 3rd year we’ve had a team there running their socks off! It’s always great fun and we get loads of support and shout outs from the crowd. It’s also a brilliant opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the charity. We’ll be running again this year, on Sunday 9th July 2017.  If you’d like to join us, there is an entrance fee, but if you manage to raise £125 for Action Radiotherapy, we’ll give you your fee back. Last year we raised over £3,500 for the charity. About 20,000 runners enter each year and it’s always held in July so there’s plenty of time to train. We can send you lots of tips and ideas to help prepare. If you do decide to register, please enter as an individual (we are not an official sponsored charity of the race). Once registered, please contact us. We’ll let you know where the meeting place is so you can meet the team, get a vest and join us – or take it at your own pace. There’s always a support group cheering us on with the Action Radiotherapy banners which is a great added boost. Whether you’ve been looking for a reason to get a bit fitter, or are already an experienced runner, it’s a great event to take part in. We hope you’ll be able to join us!

There are also other great ways to raise funds. In 2016 Barclaycard staff, their family and friends took part in a charity football match at Middlesborough Football Club. Alongside Barclaycard’s generous corporate donation, they raised a fantastic £1,188 for Action Radiotherapy. The Barclaycard team chose Action Radiotherapy because we recently supported one of their customer’s family members during a difficult time. If you know someone who could do with our support, please contact us at and we’ll do our best to help.

Raise awareness

You can also help us by talking to other people about the importance of radiotherapy as a way of curing cancer. An easy way to do this is through our Facebook and Twitter pages.
