UK radiotherapy upgrade ‘changes face of cancer treatment’

The National Health Service is spending £130m to upgrade radiotherapy equipment in England during the next two years to try and reverse the low use of the treatment by international standards. The money to replace or upgrade one in four radiotherapy machines is being “reprioritised” from NHS England’s existing budget. In all, 17 will be replaced this financial year and about 40 in the next year as NHS England implements the recommendations made last year by the Independent Cancer Taskforce.
