A mother has slammed the NHS for refusing her son ‘vital’ cancer treatment – because the therapy is not on the approved list for his condition. Alexander Vinson, 2, was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour in July. A spokesperson for NHS England said proton beam therapy is not currently advised or commissioned for the type of brain tumour that Alexander has – and that a panel of experts decided the treatment was not recommended in his case.
