Radiation Protection Principal Physicist - (Band 6)

Applications are invited from enthusiastic, HCPC registered clinical scientists, whose name is entered on the RPA2000 list of Medical Physics Experts for Diagnostic Radiology or is close to applying and have experience in quality assurance of diagnostic imaging equipment and knowledge of radiation legislation to work in our friendly and expanding team. The successful candidate will support all aspects of the Radiation Protection Section, which provides physics services to Radiology, Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT and Radiopharmacy Departments; as well as providing non-ionising radiation protection services to Physiotherapy, Phototherapy, Ophthalmology and Theatres.

Senior Proton Physicist - (Band 8a)

We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical scientist to join a team of physicists, engineers and dosimetrists in the development and provision of Proton therapy physics services. The ability to work effectively with the minimum of supervision is essential. Applicants should be State Registered or equivalent with good experience in proton therapy including treatment planning and proton dosimetry/quality control. The work involves contact with patients and the ability to communicate clearly and sympathetically with patients having a variety of backgrounds is essential. A clinical background with good knowledge of relevant physiology and pathology is also essential.

Principal clinical scientist - (Band 8b)

As an MPE level, highly experienced HCPC State Registered clinical scientist. You should have extensive knowledge and expertise in radiotherapy physics and a thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and clinical practice. You will need strong organisational skills, proven leadership qualities and an interest in training and development of staff at all levels within the team to deliver best service for patients. The postholder will ideally demonstrate a strong knowledge and experience of healthcare science training routes and a working knowledge of workforce planning. Applicants who not fully meet the person spec may be considered for appointment at a lower band.

Consultant Therapy Radiographer - (Band 8a)

The successful candidate will work closely with our other Lead Dosimetrist to provide day to day support and management of the external beam treatment planning section based at Guys Cancer Centre.

Senior Radiotherapy Engineer - (Band 7)

We are seeking a Senior Radiotherapy Engineer to join the Physics Engineering Section of the Medical Physics Department based in the Kent Oncology Centre at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. You will be an enthusiastic Electronics Engineer with proven electronics experience and technical expertise looking to join our busy Physics Engineering section, to deliver a high quality maintenance and repair service to a range of Oncology Equipment - mainly Varian, Canon, Siemens, and IGE sited throughout the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust specifically in the Kent Oncology Centre at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital and future satellite centres. You should have recent knowledge of Oncology/ X-Ray or Radar equipment maintenance, ideally gained from working with one of the major equipment manufacturers. However, applicants with less experience are encouraged to apply because training will be provided and the job description modified accordingly with an appropriate banding.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Technologist or Radiographer to join our mould room and brachytherapy team supporting radiotherapy at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care. This is a developing and progressive service responding to the increasing technical demands of radiotherapy with an extensive range of immobilisation devices. The brachytherapy service continues to increase in both scope and activity. This post is one of two senior clinical technologists who are responsible for leading, on a rotational basis, one of two teams providing support for the mould room service and brachytherapy preparation and delivery. You will supervise the small team delivering the clinical service and will be expected to participate in role development and extension.
