Jo Strickland

Advanced Practitioner

Guy’s Cancer at Queen Mary Hospital, Sidcup.

Like many people Jo came to radiotherapy later in life, having abandoned a career in newspaper journalism to follow a path making a difference in people’s lives. She graduated from University Campus Suffolk in 2008 and secured a job working at London’s University College Hospital. Now based in Kent, she works as a Team Leader for Guy’s Cancer at its satellite centre in Sidcup.

Jo is passionate about raising the profile of radiotherapy and encouraging more people to take up the profession. She believes that every cancer patient should have access to the most advanced radiotherapy techniques irrespective of where they live and that increased funding is essential to achieve this. She wants radiotherapy to be moved up the national health agenda and is looking forward to working with this group of like-minded professionals to achieve this.

How you can help

Action Radiotherapy is comprised of radiotherapy professionals who, while working to treat patients, also volunteer their time to us. We want to say a huge THANK YOU to these, often forgotten, frontline workers - the Therapeutic Radiographers, the physicists and the clinicians.
