Shannon Johnson

Therapeutic radiographer

The Beacon Centre, Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton

Shannon successfully completed her BSc in Radiotherapy and Oncology at UWE Bristol in July 2019, and now works as a band 5 therapy radiographer at The Beacon Centre in Taunton. Shannon has been lucky enough to secure a scholarship at university to enable her to promote radiotherapy! She is passionate about promoting the profession of radiotherapy and has recently become part of the education team within the department as well as a STEM ambassador for the West of England. She has been able to use this role to investigate the value of STEM based subjects to a number of students and teachers across Somerset through workshops and career events. Even though Shannon is relatively new to the profession, her dedication into educating the wider public in regards to radiotherapy is something that Shannon strives to achieve. After researching the public's perception of radiotherapy within her dissertation, Shannon has been accepted to present this at the Annual Radiotherapy Conference in January 2020. She is also very keen to get stuck in with fundraising for Action Radiotherapy in the near future and cant wait to see what the work with Action Radiotherapy and the dedicated professionals working with her will bring!

How you can help

Action Radiotherapy is comprised of radiotherapy professionals who, while working to treat patients, also volunteer their time to us. We want to say a huge THANK YOU to these, often forgotten, frontline workers - the Therapeutic Radiographers, the physicists and the clinicians.
